Questions to Ask Before Reserving a Vehicle for Export
Clarify vehicle identity, reservation scope, payment verification and unresolved inspection or destination checks before committing.
Identify the exact vehicle and seller
Tie any proposed reservation to the individual vehicle, listing reference and verified seller. Ask whether the stock is physically available and whether another party has authority to sell it.
Do not send money because a similar model appears in a photograph. Preserve the listing and seller correspondence, then complete appropriate identity and ownership checks through verified channels.
Ask what reservation means in writing
Request the proposed duration, amount, conditions and what happens when it ends. Ask which actions remain for the buyer and seller and whether the vehicle can still be offered elsewhere.

Keep inspection and destination checks visible
List the independent inspection, documents and destination eligibility questions that remain unresolved. Ask how those checks relate to the proposed reservation timeline.
A reserved vehicle is not necessarily roadworthy, suitable for import or ready for shipment. Confirm current destination requirements with relevant official authorities and qualified advisers before purchase.
Verify payment instructions separately
Check payment details through an established verified contact route, particularly if bank details change or an urgent message arrives from a new address. Confirm who receives the payment and how it will be recorded.
Do not use a screenshot of bank information as proof of legitimacy. Avoid sending confidential documents or payment details through an unverified channel. No payment method removes every transaction risk.
Distinguish reservation from transport booking
Clarify whether collection, storage, loading or shipping is included or a separate service. Ask when each responsibility begins and who must approve changes.
A reservation confirmation does not by itself establish transport availability, insurance, customs clearance or delivery. Keep service quotations and responsibilities separate until they are agreed.
Keep a decision and deadline record
Save the written terms, verified correspondence, receipt if a payment is made and the next review date. Record who will decide whether to proceed and what evidence they need.
