Vehicle Due Diligence
How to Record Vehicle Air-Conditioning Evidence Before an Export Purchase
A dashboard photograph cannot show whether climate controls respond or whether airflow changes. A structured demonstration can improve the evidence available for due diligence, but qualified inspection is still needed where condition matters.
Identify the vehicle and conditions
Begin with the vehicle identification details already being used for the enquiry, the date and the observable ambient conditions. Keep this record with the listing and other inspection evidence.
Do not expose private documents or infer refrigerant condition from temperature alone.
Show the controls before changing them
Record the climate-control panel, current settings and any visible warning or fault message. Demonstrate relevant buttons and modes in a steady, readable view.
Confirm which equipment is actually fitted; similar trims can have different controls.
Record observable responses
Where safe and authorised, show fan-speed changes, vent selection, temperature-setting response and rear controls if included. Capture unusual noises, smells or delays as observations rather than diagnoses.
A short demonstration does not prove performance under every temperature, load or journey condition.
Separate air conditioning from general ventilation
State whether the request concerns cooling, heating, demisting, fan operation or automatic climate control. These functions should not be collapsed into a single “working AC” claim.
Qualified technicians may need to inspect refrigerant, leaks, compressors, electrical faults or heating systems.
Ask what was not tested
Record inaccessible functions, unsuitable ambient conditions, unavailable equipment and any limitation imposed by the location or seller.
An honest incomplete record is more useful than a broad assurance unsupported by evidence.
Keep evidence linked to the purchase decision
Store the original video or photographs, timestamp, vehicle reference, inspector or seller identity where verified, and follow-up questions together.
Global Auto Export supports marketplace discovery and enquiries; it does not provide legal, customs, tax, delivery, financial or mechanical-condition guarantees.
Frequently asked questions
Does cool air prove the system has no fault? No. Can a video replace a qualified inspection? No. Should climate controls be matched to the exact vehicle specification? Yes.
