Due Diligence
How to Plan a Live Video Vehicle Viewing Before an Export Purchase
A live video viewing can help you ask follow-up questions about a listing. Its value depends on planning the questions and recognising what the call cannot establish.
Confirm the purpose and exact vehicle
Agree which listing and vehicle the call concerns before it starts. Ask the seller to have the relevant information available and verify the contact route through your normal due-diligence process.
A person appearing on camera does not by itself establish ownership or authority to sell. Keep identity and seller checks separate rather than treating a friendly conversation as verification.
Prepare questions that need a live answer
Choose a few points that the listing or supplied photographs did not resolve. Note the relevant image or claim and what additional view or explanation would help you understand it.
For example, you might ask to see the context around a visible mark rather than another close-up of the same area. Do not ask the seller to diagnose a mechanical concern beyond their competence.
Keep the viewing safe and static
Ask for appropriate stationary views in a safe setting. Do not request filming while driving, risky access under a vehicle or another action that could place someone at risk.
If a question needs equipment, lifting or a practical test, refer it to a qualified independent provider using suitable procedures. A call should not become an improvised inspection.
Distinguish visible evidence from a claim
Write down what you could actually see, what the seller said and what remained unclear. Poor lighting, connection quality or a restricted camera angle can limit the usefulness of a view.
An apparent match between a listing and a video does not prove all condition, history or document questions are resolved. Preserve uncertainty instead of filling gaps with an assumption.
Agree follow-up evidence
At the end, summarise which photographs, records or independent checks are still needed. Use a clear reference so later messages relate to the same vehicle and question.
Do not record or redistribute a call without addressing the appropriate permissions and applicable requirements. Obtain qualified advice where privacy or other legal questions are unclear.
Keep the purchase decision separate
Review the call notes alongside independent inspection, document checks and the evidence relevant to your intended destination. Verify any country-specific requirements with official authorities before committing.
Global Auto Export supports discovery and communication, not guarantees of condition, ownership, customs clearance, delivery or financial outcomes. A live call can inform the next question; it is not a substitute for due diligence.
